About Finn

I have always loved art and drawing from being little. Itโ€™s something that Iโ€™ve always stuck with and truly enjoyed. I used to struggle with certain subjects growing up, but with art something always just clicked for me. I was about 6 years old when I first across this tattoo world my dad was a client at a studio, and I went with him.

As I walked in the door, I instantly fell in love with it all, I remember taring at all the walls and hearing the noise of the machines and feeling really excited. I met the artists, and I knew straight away that was who I wanted to be! This then became a routine that every time someone in my family got a tattoo, I had to go with them.

A few years later my dad got another design, this time at Sharp Arts! I walked in and remembered falling in love with it. I remember their daughter and her friend drawing on a little desk and everyone laughing and having a good time and I just knew where I wanted to be. As I began high school the art I wanted to create in my mind became more achievable, I worked really hard trying to make sure I could create a good portfolio for the future and carried on that hard work when I began college.

This was when I thought I can try and start to make this dream a reality by going to different studios and asking about an apprenticeship. I had my portfolio, it was just finding a studio. I then found out that Sharp Art Studios were open to a new apprentice beginning. I was over the moon at just the idea of it! I have learnt that a lot of people underestimate the amount of work that goes into being a tattoo artist, the skill itself is a mountain of things you have to learn and remember, itโ€™s also constant drawing and clients messaging through the night, but I wanted to show that I was ready for that and ready to work as hard as I can to get there.

I began at the studio just watching the artists, trying to pick up on the different skills and techniques. I started using fake skin for about 6 months until my birthday in July when I finally started on clients! I feel like I have learnt so much already and I cannot wait to learn more. It’d hard to explain the feeing you get when you are tattooing someone. That over whelming feeling of excitement and knowing your work is on this person for life.

This is the beginning of the rest of my life. I will forever be grateful for the constant knowledge that these insanely talented artists give me every day. The ups and downs, the laughs and the cries, I just canโ€™t wait to learn more and for my future in this crazy, loving tattoo family.
