About Karen
I grew up in Cheshire, none of my family were interested in tattoos, I used to go along with friends as a teenager when they got their tattoos, but didn’t get my first one until I was 28. I’d moved to London by this time and met my Husband who took me to get my first tattoo, he had some already and reassured me I’d be fine. I picked one from the many designs on the shop wall, a little tribal butterfly on my right shoulder which has since been covered, twice! It didn’t put me off, and I went back for more and the sizes got bigger.
By this time I’d been living and working in London for a few years as a graphic designer in the print sector, I’d worked in publishing before that on Back Street Heros and various other motorcycle magazines and am a keen rider myself. I like to bring some of my graphic influences to my tattoo work if I’m asked to do an illustrative style.
I was getting tattooed regularly in and around London and wanted to do something different so becoming a tattoo artist was the natural choice and I began an apprenticeship with a local studio in 2009. Four years later I began my career as a full time tattoo artist.
I lived in London for 23 years and have recently moved back and now live in Staffordshire.
I found the fantastic team at Sharp Arts Studio and been here since April 2021.
I love animals and anything nature related, realism or illustrative, black and grey or colour.
My personal collection of tattoos has become extensive with many different styles and I’m currently getting the right side of my body tattooed as one large piece, but there’s always room for one or two more!
