We are looking for a motivated, talented and friendly individual to join us as a tattoo apprentice – if you are interested in the role please read the following carefully:

 

PLEASE NOTE the apprentice position we are offering will be unpaid and will start on a part-time basis (subject to individual circumstances / availability).

 

Apprentice Applicants MUST:

+ Be 18 or over.

+ Have tattoos.

+ Exhibit high standards of personal hygiene.

 

Useful:

+ Own transport.

+ Flexible hours.

 

Qualities we are looking for:

+ Artistic talent and enthusiasm – portfolio of work with potential. Can name tattoo artists they’re inspired by. Basic understanding of well-known tattoo styles.

+ Social awareness. Comfortable dealing with people in various situations. Behaves appropriately. Respectful of team and customers.

+ Communication – verbal and written. Social media savvy.

+ Hard working and willing – asks questions about the job, checks if unsure, handles tasks appropriately.

+ Time management – punctual in arriving / notifying if late / handling design or task workload.

+ Forthcoming – brings ideas / concerns up maturely.

 

Expected duties (progressive depending on aptitude shown):

+ Meet and greet – welcoming customers, answering phone enquiries, brews.

+ Shop maintenance – cleaning and tidying (shop front, kitchen, bathroom, yard).

+ Restocking and displaying of goods and promotional material.

+ Complete tasks set by team – design challenges, research, taking photos / recording video content etc.

+ Shadow artists – develop an understanding of whole process from consultation and design to the tattooing procedure and giving of aftercare guidance.

+ Set up and clean down stations – become familiar with different types of machine set up and high standard of hygiene practises.

 

After an initial trial period of the aforementioned duties an apprentice tattooing licence can be applied for. Once the licence has arrived the team will then begin instructing you closely, on willing participants, in the practical techniques required for tattooing.

 

We will help you develop your linework, black and colour packing, texture, soft shading and blending skills across a variety of styles. When comfortable and proficient doing basic tattoos you will be able to charge apprentice rates and start earning from your work.
